Auditions for 2008 new members - held 9 December 2007 - thank you to all those who attended the workshops and auditions on 9 December 2007 for prospective new members. Congratulations and commiserations as relevant.
For late 2008 - Around the turn of each year, WOW holds auditions for new members. There are usually no more than 10 places available. The company is kept below 60 members as we feel that this is more than enough young talent under one roof at any given time!!! The next auditions are therefore expected to be held in either late 2008 or early 2009.
Those coming to audition will receive an information leaflet giving details of what is expected of a WOW member and highlighting the commitment required of them. If they still want to audition, then there are two audition workshops where the Musical Director teaches 3 songs, of which one must be chosen and performed at the audition. Furthermore, the Dancing Mistress teaches a short dance routine and the candidates are asked to prepare a short drama piece to perform.
The Audition panel, consisting of 3 committee members, will be looking for a good voice, musicality and an ability to move well (they do not have to be trained dancers) and of course a degree of presence and potential. Some members have taken 3 attempts to gain acceptance into WOW and this highlights the sort of enthusiasm that we are looking for.
